Marco Dotti is a very young but promising new Master.
He works every single day and is very focused on his mission.
Just like the sound of this Testore Copy he made here in our workshop inn Cremona.
The Original is owned by Artemio Versari. The original is exposed in his Museum of Music not far from the Piazza Marco.
It's original wood is actually completely without any flames and it's varnish is light brown tending to have a green shade in it. Nevertheless the entire instrument has a strong character. The violin has many tool-marks all over the surface. A particularity is that the back of the violin doesn't have a purfling, it is only signed and seems to be there; while on the top it has a very large purfling which is made as imprecise as it has been made by the original maker Carlo Antonio Testore in the 18th century. A nice texture of oil varnish amplifies the beauty of the precious tone-wood.
Sound wise this violin has a strong rough italian sound similar to a Guarneri but somehow more focused. Very interesting!
All instruments I offer here on my webshop are physically existing and available here in my workshop in Cremona, Italy.
