Violin - Edgar Russ, copy of Carlo Antonio Testore

Master Edgar Russ loves the challenge to make a copy of famous Great Masters instruments. Here is a Copy of a Carlo Antonio Testore which is owned by Artemio Versari from Venice where you can also see the original exposed in his Museum of Music.
It's original wood is actually completely without any flames and it's varnish is light brown tending to have a green shade in it. Nevertheless the entire instrument has a strong character. Edgar Russ copy is actually exaggerated beautiful and has many tool-marks all over the surface. They are like fingerprints which should give you the impression that the maker himself is very close to you; Like a human with all his imperfections. A nice texture of oil varnish amplifies the beauty of the precious tone-wood.
Sound wise this violin is very particular since it has a strong rough italian sound similar as a Guarneri but somehow more focused.
Very interesting and that's why Master Edgar Russ continues making it.
All instruments I offer here on my webshop are physically existing and available here in my workshop in Cremona, Italy.
